Today, I have a little newborn baby photo prop that I made especially for my little nephew. This little angel made the cutest little Lion. His photo's were taken by Colleen Sevitz Photography, I think she did an amazing Job with the Photo's.
Today is also his Dad's 30th Birthday, So happy Birthday Cuz!
Below is the Step by Step knitting guide on how I made this Newborn Prop.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Yarn: DK Yellow (Charity) and Mohair Brown (African Expressions)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Shorts - Make 2 Cast on 36 stitches
Continue knitting in stocking stitch (one row plain, one row purl) for another 20 rows
Then you will need to split and only knit 18 stitches for another 15 rows (Stocking Stitch)
Then Knit and Bind Off the last Row
Now knit the Other 18 Left on your needle the same way you knit the first 18.
Knit 18 stitches for another 15 rows (Stocking Stitch)
Then Knit and Bind Off the last Row
Sew the Shorts together with your tapestry needle with the right sides facing. Lion Bonnet
Cast on 40 stitches Knit in Stocking Stitch until your Bonnet measures 11cm, ending with a purl row. Decrease as follows:
Row 1:(knit 1, Knit 2tog) to the end of the row, K1. (27 stitches)
Row 2: Purl all stitches
Row 3: (k2tog) repeat across the row, to the last stitch, K1 (14 stitches) Row 4: Purl all stitches Cut a long “tail” of yarn.
Thread all the remaining stitches onto the “tail”, and pull tight. Fold the bonnet in half, with the right sides facing, and stitch down the seam for approx. 4cm, Sew in any loose threads.
Make the chin ties by creating a long crochet chain of approx. 50 chain stitches
Ears - Make 2
Row 1: HDC 8 in MR join, chain 2 (8) Row 2: 2 HDC in each stitch, join, chain 1 (16) Row 3: SC in each stitch around to last 2, leave last 2 stitches open to make the bottom of the ear flat. Fasten off and sew on top of hat. (14)
Mane For the mane attach the brown yarn evenly along the front of the Bonnet by making a knot to secure it. This is the most time consuming part, but the result is worth it. you can run a brush through the mane when finishes to get a rougher look.
